The Colony gets North Texas football started a day early.

The Cougars open the 2026 season on Thursday, Aug. 27, on the road at W.W. Samuell, one night before the bulk of the region plays. The Colony is ranked No. 241 in Texas by On3.

The schedule

A second Thursday game follows on Sept. 3, at home against Fossil Ridge, ranked No. 368. The Cougars then host W.T. White, ranked No. 622, on Sept. 11.

The difficult stretch comes later. Argyle, ranked No. 17 in the state, is the toughest opponent on the nine-game schedule, with Lovejoy at No. 87 and Colleyville Heritage at No. 91 also on the slate.

Thursday football

Thursday kickoffs are usually a scheduling accommodation, and they come with a practical benefit for fans: no competition from every other game in the area. For The Colony, it means the first look at this team arrives before anyone else's.

Kickoff is Thursday, Aug. 27. Rankings are On3's preseason Texas rankings.
