Early Surge Defines Baylor Win
The Baylor Bears established control of the contest almost immediately, building an insurmountable 34-point advantage by halftime before adding more points in the second half to defeat the visiting Prairie View A&M Panthers 44-3 on Sunday. The decisive factor was Baylor’s explosive first-half scoring, which included three touchdowns and two field goals that left the visitors with no momentum heading into the locker room.
Baylor took the lead early in the first quarter when Rhett Armstrong connected on a 46-yard field goal to tie the game at 3-3 after an Ethan Eddins field goal for Prairie View A&M. The Bears then went on a rapid scoring spree. Caden Knighten broke through the defense for a 5-yard run, followed by a 33-yard touchdown pass from Nate Bennett to Jayden McGowan.
These scores pushed Baylor ahead 17-0 by the end of the first period.
Second Half Adds to Margin
The scoring did not stop in the second quarter. Baylor added two more touchdowns before halftime. Dre'lon Miller caught a 22-yard pass from Bennett, and Bennett himself ran in from 17 yards out. Armstrong kicked two more field goals in the half, one for 45 yards and another for 22 yards in the fourth quarter, capping the scoring summary.
In the third quarter, Jayden McGowan added his second touchdown of the day with a 13-yard run, extending the lead to 41-3. The final score was set when Armstrong kicked a 22-yard field goal in the fourth period. Prairie View A&M managed only one field goal all game and failed to score any touchdowns.
