Football fans can watch Texas and Oklahoma on a big screen at Grandscape on Saturday, Oct. 10, as part of a free afternoon Fall Fest on The Lawn.

The event runs from 1 to 5 p.m., with live music and family activities leading up to the Red River Rivalry kickoff at 2:30 p.m., according to Grandscape and the city's visitor bureau, Visit The Colony. The bureau's October guide lists face painting, a mechanical bull, carnival games and balloon art. A vendor market will sell goods during the event.

Grandscape is also running a trolley to the NFM store from noon to 4 p.m. for what it calls a Tailgate Takeover before the game.

Admission is free. Outside alcohol and coolers are not allowed, and the center points visitors to its free parking garage.

More October dates at the shopping center

  • Sunset Fitness, Wednesday, Oct. 14: a free boxing-style workout led by Title Boxing Club on The Lawn. A second session on Oct. 28 pairs yoga with a HIIT class.
  • Diwali festival, Oct. 25: the Great Indian Diwali Festival of Lights is listed from noon to 9 p.m. with light displays, cultural performances, food and crafts.
  • Trick-or-Treat Extravaganza, Saturday, Oct. 31: 6 to 9 p.m.

Haunted trail on weekends

Away from Grandscape, the Haunted Shadows Lake Trail is back in the woods near the TOCA Soccer Center on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October, Visit The Colony says. The wooded route, longer than a mile, follows the Lewisville Lake shore. It is open 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and until 9:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Saturday's Fall Fest lands on the same evening as the city's Howl-O-Ween pet event, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hawaiian Waters parking lot.
