Drivers on North Colony Boulevard should expect lane closures at Paige Road for roughly two more months while city-hired contractors rebuild the drainage system under the street.

The work is part of the North Colony Boulevard Storm Drainage Upgrade project. The City of The Colony changed traffic flow at the Paige Road intersection, and on the stretch just east of it, starting Wednesday, Sept. 23. Lanes in both directions are affected.

What crews are doing

According to the city, crews are pulling out existing reinforced concrete pipe and old curb inlets and laying new storm pipe in their place. The project also enlarges some of the existing curb inlets and adds new ones along North Colony Boulevard. The goal, the city said, is more inlet and storage capacity so the system can take in more water during heavy storms.

Sidewalks, walkways and pavement torn up during construction will be repaired or replaced as needed.

Timeline and tips

The city expects the work to be finished at the end of November, depending on weather. Because lane closures may move as the job progresses, the city asks motorists to watch the posted construction signs, expect short delays and drive carefully through the work zone.

Residents with questions about the project can reach City Hall at 972-625-1756. City offices are open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday.
