A week after a district-opening loss, The Colony answered with a rout.

The Cougars beat Community 45-3 on Friday night on the road in Nevada, leading 24-3 at halftime and outscoring the Braves in every quarter, according to MaxPreps game data. It was Community's lowest-scoring game of the season and the Braves' second straight loss, dropping them to 4-3.

The win puts The Colony at 5-1 overall and 1-1 in district play. The Cougars are unbeaten in three road games this fall and have outscored opponents 241-67, an average of a little more than 40 points a game, MaxPreps figures show. Their only loss came Oct. 2 at home, 24-17 to Colleyville Heritage, which rallied with 21 straight points.

A tougher test next

The schedule stiffens from here. The Colony hosts Argyle at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16. The Eagles, ranked No. 3 in the state in the Denton Record-Chronicle's report, beat eighth-ranked Lovejoy 45-28 on Friday in a district game between state-ranked teams.

After Argyle, the Cougars play at Grapevine on Friday, Oct. 23, host Eagle Mountain on Friday, Oct. 30, and close the regular season at Lovejoy on Thursday, Nov. 5, according to the team's posted schedule.

Community plays Colleyville Heritage next.
